becoming a RE agent...
I recently just had a baby and am hating my commute into the city. We definitely need some income from me, but i can afford to take a pay cut. I'd like to work part time. How possible is this for a RE agent? Any agents out there want to share some insight on their career and possibiities?

Re: becoming a RE agent...
I am a Realtor
I am going to be 100% honest with you- it is not something you are going to make money doing part-time
I work 6-7 days a week- sometimes 12 hours a day
I hustle- you have too- that's the only way you will make money- someone wants to see a house - you go- even if it's going to take you 30 minutes to get there and they might not buy it
I go thru 2 full tanks of gas a week
working weekends in a MUST
evenings are a MUST
I get home at 8pm most night now during the week b/c it's light out and people want to see houses after work
of course I love it- I have always wanted to be a real estate agent- but I am not married, have no childern and barely have time for cats
in the future I plan on being a broker and having 10 younger versions of myself running around like I do
it is something that you must love and put the time in to be successful
feel free to ask me any questions
but being a real estate agent is not this super glamourous - show up- sell the house in 30 seconds and make $10k job that I think alot of people think it is
working in the city was MUCH easier- and I left work in the city
I am on my laptop at 10pm checking on properties for people- answering emails- it's a 24/7 job in today's market b/c of blackberrys and emails- if you want to make money- this is what it takes!

First you need to be an agent- for 2 years but I am 1 year in and I don't think 2 is enough- my goal is 3 years
And of course pass the test/take the class
You can be an associate broker- which means you work under another broker
Or broker/owner- which means you have your own office
