Because I registered to vote a few months ago...
I have jury duty next week! 
I knew this would happen. Now I have to leave for NYC monday morning...do i have to tell them this or just go and see what happens???

I read this wrong....
if you are going away, you can just postpone your jury duty....at least in NY you can.

happned to me too. I registered to vote as I wasn't registered here in NJ, and two months later got a summons to appear for jury duty.

Well I have jury duty Thursday and am leaving for NYC on Monday morning. I didn't want to postpone as I travel to NY one week a month and this is likely to happen again. I obviously can't sit on a jury...so do i tell them i have a trip or just sit until there is a problem?

I would tell them when you go that your job is requiring you to travel that Monday.

This is why I am afraid to change my name since I got married. Every timeI change it, i get called for jury duty. have no fall they find me. I serve and then get called again, and no matter how many times I send in the reciept they still never update there records. I got called when I registered to vote, when I got married, when I changed my drivers license, when i changed my name on my SS card.

I was so reluctant because of this and then 3 weeks after I registered BAMM...jury duty!
