"Beauty" apps on phones

Has anyone noticed these are getting way out of control?
I'm talking about the apps where you can alter or "beautify" a picture of yourself to the point you look almost non-human?

I am all for a nice, soft focus filter like on Instagram, but lately my FB newsfeed is filled with pictures that look like horrible photoshop jobs or plastic surgery gone way wrong.

I saw one yesterday where she altered it so badly to smooth out or thin out or change the shape of her face, that her child, who was sitting behind her in the car, looked as if she had no neck! It was disturbing! But I couldn't stop laughing either.

Some even "blur" out areas you are trying to minimize, so this one I saw the girls' nose and upper lip are were all blurry but the rest of her face was clear.

I mean, do people really think they are kidding anyone?

I saw one where it was CLEARLY altered, and pretty badly, and everyone was commenting, OMG you never age!
Um yeah because you did something funky to your face with some app!

Just an observation- has anyone else noticed this?

Yes - it's getting ridiculous.

So many people look like they're under pro makeup artists (but not in a good way) while seated under soft-light filters for a vintage Baba Wawa interview.

People are idiots. I would be embarrassed to post an altered picture of myself like that. Everyone that knows you is aware of what you really look like.

I have a friend who posts pics like that too - and they look pretty awful. its so obvious that she's 'smoothing' her face out, but in reality all she's doing is taking all shape out and making herself look completely unnatural.
