Bcp in Ivf cycle question.,,
Have any of you ladies only done 1 week of bcp in your Ivf cycle? I am reading many have done 3 weeks or 2. I am only set to do it for 7 days. Wondering why??

I was never on BCPs. I think people go on it to "regulate" the cycle so people are on them for varying amounts of time.

Actually, you go on BCPs to give your ovaries time to rest before stimming. Standard protocol is usually 3 weeks of bcps - or a full cycle - for your ovaries to basically take a month off. I've heard of 2 weeks, but never 1. Though, I'm sure your RE has his reasons for 1 week. When in doubt, ASK!

They use BCP's for various reasons. Some RE's use it to suppress you before a stim cycle (some don't believe you can get too suppressed while others think you can). They might also use it for timing, for example - to co-ordinate your ER/ET. Some places like to do them all together so that might be why you are only on it for one week. Personally, I don't think its necessary. Seemed so counter productive to me...LOL... I used it on some cycles and not on others and it really didn't make a difference for me.

I have been on them for one month in the past...also, 4 weeks. Sorry, I do not know the reason though!
