BCP before IVF start

Hi Ladies,
It's been a while since I posted. I'm just waiting around for my AF to show in April so I can start my IVF protocol. I noticed that out of all the medication that my nurse had ordered for me, there is no BCP. My question is, has anyone done rounds of IVF without taking birth control pills first? When I asked my RE, she said that if my period starts when it is suppose to (which is 4/6), then I don't need to take BCP BUT if it does arrive before that date, I would have to come in to the office to get script for BCP. DOes that make any sense?

Gonal F
Ganirelix
Novarel
Progesterone
Medrol
Doryx (for both DH and I)

Not everyone has to be on bcp. Most REs put you on them to control when your cycle starts so that retrieval and transfer are at specific times in that office. It also depends on what protocol they are using and how suppressed they want you to be before you start.HTH!!Good luck!!!

i wasn't put on BCP when i did my cycle - my cycles aren't necessarily regular either, but i did ovulate on my own (i think) and they just monitored that!
