Bay/Bow Windows - Cold Sill?
We just got a bay window and the sill is freezing. It seems like air is coming through on the bottom but not sure if there isn't insulation enough or if the sills are always cold - its freezing. The sill is wood.

they prob didnt insulate it properly or at all underneath. it shouldnt be doing that

The sill will most likely be cooler then the rest of the house, but it should definitely not be cold. Sounds like you're going to have to increase the insulation under the window.

take a candle to the area and see if the flame moves if its bent back or flickers a lot then you have a drafty window and should call the people who installed it to fix it. You might just need some new caulking around the molding (easy fix) if the air comes out from the sides. If the wall underneath the window is cold to touch then you need to open the sheetrock and add more insulation.
The actual ledge that sticks out from the house will never be as warm as the house. Mine is cold that is why the cats only go on it in the winter when i have a blanket on it.
