Re: bats
We don't have an issue w/ them in our home, but we do have several. Do you have a bat house? That might keep them from flying in.
They had a DIY on bat houses HGTV.com

Re: bats
See if you can put up a bat house. We actually encouraged the bats b/c they eat the mosquitos. Just make sure that your town allows bat houses, b/c where my mom lives they do not.

Re: bats
We have bats in our neighborhood. I've never had one in the house, but I do have a bat house on the back of the garage.

Re: bats
i had one in the house a few months ago..My cat Max killed it and we threw it away. This horrible screetching woke us at 4am with Max pouncing on it. We had a watch cat!
We haven't seen any since but we never found out where they came from.

Re: bats
my aunt had them in her house during the summer 2 years ago.
Due to the fact that they can carry diseases - esp rabies, she called some bat type person, who came into her house and crawled around the attic to find open spaces, patched them up, left a trap to catch any that were still in the house, and basically ensure they wouldn't ever return again.

Re: bats
OMG I HATE bats. I know they eat mosquitos etc- but they freak me out. If I EVER got one in my house I think I would have to move! The thought alone gives me chills. UGHHHHH!

Re: bats
OMG! When I was in college, I rented a room in a house in Binghamton with a bunch of other girls, turns out there were about 1000 bats living in the attic!!! Needless to say, after having some of them fly around the house, we moved out.
But as a pp poster stated, they are good for mosquitoes. At our house upstate my Dad built some of those bat houses and put them around the property to attract them to eat the bugs.
