Bathtub reglazed?
We are in the process of renovating our bathroom.
Since we live in a 4 floor walk up - on the 4th floor we decided to save some $ and DH's back that we would leave the cast iron tub that is there. DH is doing all the renovations, so we are saving a significant amount because of that.
We want to have it reglazed, but I'm sort of on the fence about it. I've heard people say don't do it.
If you've had it done do you think it was worth it? or should we consider changing the tub for the $ and the result of having it reglazed?
We plan on moving in 3 years or so. Hence why I'm not to concerned about long wear and tear.

Re: Bathtub reglazed?
My mom reglazed her tub like 15 yrs ago. I think it lasted for about 10, then started to peel.
eta: I would definitely do it!

Re: Bathtub reglazed?
My dad just did this at our house - It looks awesome!!
The only thing is you have to be cautious what you use to clean it, and since my dad was re-tiling, some dust must have been in the tub and they glazed right over it I think cause whenever I take a bath all this sandy stuff scratches my rear
It was much cheaper than putting in a new tub. I'll post you some pics...

For the amount of time you expect to stay - I would re-glaze the tub IMO

Re: Bathtub reglazed?
We had the cast iron tub in our old apartment reglazed--we were in a 4th floor walk up too.
It looked great at first but after abotu a year, there was a bubble that ended up chipping off. We contacted the company because we had a 5 or 10 year warranty. They came out and reglazed it again. Looked good again.
Another year went by and the same thing happened! We never contacted the company because we ended up selling that place...
So yeah, definitely make sure you get a warranty of some sort. And read the fine print because a lot of them say you can't use an abrasive cleaner (ever) or have any sort of metal organizer/caddy in the tub.
