Bathroom tile fiasco
DH took off from work on Tuesday and we made the most of it by shopping for bathroom tile. We hit 5 or 6 stores and found what we wanted. We have a small bathroom and its a pretty basic common shape. I was fortunate to have a picture of it on my cell for the guy to be able to help us design according to our style/needs. A few days later, the guy calls DH to tell him that the tile is discounted even further (yay - though I am sure it always was). In any case, I ask him to get a sample so we can stare at it for a couple of days and make sure. So he comes back with the entire slab with all of the shapes and sizes that we planned to use in the bathroom and on the floor.
After 2 days of being psyched and sure, all of a sudden he has an epiphany. He doesnt want the tile on the walls and in the shower to be the same color as it is on the floor. Now we have to search all over again for a tile for the floor. He wants a contrast. I told him the contrast I want will come with the tub, toilet, sink, counter tops and vanity as well as the fixtures we choose. No, he wants different tile. Why do they care? They aren't supposed to care as long as the bathroom is stocked with good reading material - LET IT BE!!

I am impressed that you found your 1st tile in 1 day. I know that I want 3 types of tile & I thought I found them in 1 day. . . untill i went home. I have been looking for tile for weeks!

I'll be quite honest, if it were a big bathroom, we'd be a lot more picky. But it isn't. We want durable and practical - not something we will have to replace any time soon. We are doing a pure gut job as it is. Tile isn't going to be the $$$ part. The labor will be. We have to gut a basement too. Lord help us.

Honestly not only would we get along famously I think our DH's would too...he has a say in EVERYTHING when it came to doing this house, I flatly said NO, I mean I wouldn't go with something he absolutely HATED but I used the good old fashioned, I'm the woman and I decorate excuse In turn, I allow him a one time free pass to say something utterly and stupidly misogynistic that I can laugh at
