Bathroom Remodel Questions
If you remodeled a bathroom did you hire a GC, or just Sub Contractors?
Either way, who did you use? Did you like their work?
We are in West Suffolk
Also, did the final cost(s) of the labor come close to the contractors' (and subs') original quote?
If not, about how much more than the original cost were you shelling out? 25%, 50%, more?

Re: Bathroom Remodel Questions
Hi
We recently renovated our bathrooms in our house and I would not reccomend the guy who did the work. We more or less GC'd the work ourself which was far from ideal.
We wanted to use a specific tile guy (who was great) and he works with only a few contractors. the one we went with was a huge jerk (FM me for details).
Anyway, we purchased all the supplies ourselves (lighting, fixtures, toilets, tile, tub, sink, vanity, medicine cabinet). The GC charged us only labor. We had radient heat installed.
We went over budget, but honestly, I had to stop adding up the numbers. All the compents were paid seperately some things we charged on either mine or hubby's cards, others were housewarming gifts from family, some we paid cash.

Re: Bathroom Remodel Questions
I just had 2 baths remodeled. The guy I hired works alone and even though I made some changes throughout the process the final price was the same as originally quoted.
I am 110% happy with his work. He is trustworthy, reliable and IMO reasonable.
FM if you want his info.

Re: Bathroom Remodel Questions
We are currently redoing ours and we hired our friend and he basically worked alone (on the side) except when he needed help. I would not recommend him though, it's been 3 months and our bathroom is still not done (luckily it is an extra bath, but still). The price he quoted us was it, no extra money in the end. He included a lot too, like all the extra stuff he needed to get at home depot, but we bought the tub, toilet, vanity seperate.

Re: Bathroom Remodel Questions
i went out and bought all the materials myself... ordered the vanities, tub, toilet etc, got the tile - everything that was needed and paid for it myself. my guy told me what he would charge for the labor, it was just him and his one helper and took him 7 days - and it was the exact cost of what he told me. he did all the labor and plumbing, i just had an electrician come in to do my lighting and paid him separately.
