We are planning to do a gut remodel of our master bath. With full time jobs and a toddler, we want to make this as easy as possible and are 99% sure we want to use a designer.

Are we better off using a designer who works with a contractor, or a separate designer and a separate contractor? We have a contractor we have used in the past whose work and pricing we were happy with, but my DH thinks it might make more sense to go with a package-deal so we dont have to deal with the contractor having issues with the design, and so we can get a realistic estimate.

We would ideally like someone to help us plan out layout and choose finishes and meet with us at our home.
