Bathing suit - cruise
I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but what sort of bathing suit is best for a summer cruise to the Caribbean for my fair-skinned dd? Should I get one with a long-sleeved rashguard shirt, or will she be too hot? Is just a regular strappy tank better? Or call it even with a short sleeved rashguard?
I'm having trouble figuring out if sun would be stronger (midddle of sea), or whether it would be cooler (breeze top deck of ship?)...
And ditto for the beaches.... will she need the sun protection of a rashguard or will that make her overly hot?

It's hot on the cruise deck in the Summer! I would do regular bathing suits, and bring rashguards in case you notice she is getting burned maybe?

Re: Bathing suit - cruise
I think a rash guard is cooler if wet. I actually take it off often because kids are shivering & I send them to camp with it every day of the summer.
We alternate between long sleeve and short sleeve rash guards all the time. My son is better in long sleeves because he is so fair. My daughter is more olive skinned in the summer and I put her in short sleeves more often.
A rash guard on top of a bathing suit works too... but if they take off the bathing suit to go to the bathroom, it is a pain.

I always do long sleeve rash guards and I make my DS keep it on. Less risk of a sunburn and less sunscreen to apply (since he usually doesn't cooperate).

I would do a long sleeve since depending on the pool it may not be under a shade and/or the surrounding pool areas. Easier than reapplying since those areas burn so easily!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to pick up a tanking with a short-sleeved rash guard, and bring that and a regular suit.

I do long sleeve rash guards for my dd--even in the Caribbean in the summer- she never complains about being hot.
