Baseboard Heaters?
We recently purchased a home, and 75% of the walls in ever room have baseboard heating.
The rooms are not very large, so it seems excessive to have wall to wall heaters on three of the four walls.
I am also concerned about not being able to put furniture up against the heaters.
Does anyone know if it is a bug & expensive job to remove some of the baseboard heating out of the rooms?

Re: Baseboard Heaters?
Don’t remove them! Well , live through a few winters to see how it is and if you boil every year, then consider it.
There’s probably good reason for so much baseboard in each room.
It’s ok to have furniture up against it. If you’re putting a dresser, just leave a couple inches between. Putting large furniture over it (like I have my couches in front of mine - it’s just the way the room is shaped) sometimes blocks the heat to the room and in the winter, I have to pull the couches forward enough to let the baseboard do it’s job and actually heat the living room.
My advice is to live a couple of winters there first and learn your house.

It's possible you'll be trying to figure out how to add MORE baseboard heaters... I totally agree with PhyllisNJoe. Spend a few winters to see how the temps are before you think of taking any heaters out.

This. Our house is always freezing and we had to install wall mounted e heaters in every room. The baseboards are not enough. They are there for a reason. Aesthetics and placement of furniture is secondary to heat.

Re: Baseboard Heaters?
In both my living room and den I have a couch on the wall of the baseboard heater. I never thought twice about it. It's maybe pulled 1-2 inches away from it.

I agree. Live through a winter and decide then.
You can put furniture in front of it, just not touching. Try to leave a couple of inches. We have a couch in front of our living room one and it always gets pushed again the heater so I have to remember to pull it forward every day or two.

This happens to us all the time with the couches. This year I am putting stoppers by the back feet of the couches to help keep them in place. DH throws himself on the couch when he sits down and moves the whole thing lol

Re: Baseboard Heaters?
I grew up with baseboards. I would leave them. Yes you can put furniture in front of them just leave an inch or so that the heat flows up. My parents even have a leather couch in front of it and there is no issue with the furniture.

Let me know if you find good stoppers! We tried in our old house and nothing worked. Now it's a different couch on new floors so I'm open to trying again.

Baseboard Heaters?
Keep them! My house has a million and I never feel hot enough. Granted we keep the heat low.

Yes, leave them. You can always close the vents on some if a particular room gets too hot.
