Bars
My friend is having her 30 th birthday at a bar in the city Sat. night. The problem is that I am 17 wks. preggo and it probably isn't a good idea for me to go. Has anyone been out to a bar while preggo?

Re: Bars
I was supposed to go to a 30th birthday party in the city with my DH last Saturday. I opted against it because of the crowds and the fear that I wouldn't be able to sit. DH went alone and said that I'd be happy I didn't go. It was crowded!!

Re: Bars
i did...i went to mohegan sun while i was 26 weeks pg for my best friends bach party..it all depends on how comfortable you are..i even drove there..there isnt any smoking in city bars anymore so its up to you if you want to be around crowds or not..i promised my friend i would go..and i couldnt miss her weekend for the world..but you def have to take into consideration that you will be sober and it does get annoying when drunk people are bumping into you and stuff...if you are comfortable and this person is someone you want to be there for then i would say go for it..its one night..especially since its that easy to get up and go without finding a baby sitter..

Re: Bars
I don't see any problem in going to a bar pregnant -- you can't smoke anymore in bars so you won't be exposed to cigarette smoke -- just don't drink! And if you want something fun to drink just get a shirley temple or something like that!

Re: Bars
When I was about 24 weeks preggo we went out early one night to a bar since a bunch of DH's friends were going. We went around 10 pm and it wasn't crowded yet. They were able to get me a stool so I didn't have to stand around. By 11pm the place was getting busier and we decided to leave to be safe. It was nice to get out for a bit.

Re: Bars
I went out a few nights to bars up until about 20 weeks when i really started showing. Now i don't feel comfortable going. Just my personal opinion. I don't feel safe with drunk people and crowds.

Re: Bars
I'm going to a bar on Friday night with friends in the city. We're going for dinner then they want to go out after - this is something I would normally never have thought I'd do except they promised me we'd get a table and it wouldn't be a crowded bar. If I feel uncomfortable I can always leave and go home.

I went to Las Vegas when I was 3 months pregnant and I still go out with my DH and meet friends for happy hour. It depends how you feel about being out. If you think you would be uncomfortable, don't go.

Re: Bars
I go out with DH all the time to watch the Mets or whatever. I feel awkward with my preggo belly, like I dont belong or something, but for the most part its fine. Even if the bars dont allow seats when they get crowded (I was at the Nutty IRishman for my sisters 30th and they take away all the barstools after 11) the bouncers were kind enough to go get one just for me so I could sit - people can be very accomodating.
Like another poster said, when people bang into your knees as your sitting or hit into you or when you friends start to get drunk and yell into your ear to see if your OK.... enough becomes enough very quickly so I would make sure Im close to home.

Re: Bars
I went a couple times, and let me tell you i had good time, but then would be miserable. I had fun with my friends til they got wasted. I would only stayed for a short time, I guess I got envious they could drink and I couldn't I was responsible for my own demise.
For your friends b day, I would go, I myself am turning 30 in a couple months and would love to have my friends there for support, even if it was a little while, especially now since bars are NON SMOKING!! YAY!!

I went out 4th of July weekend at 28 weeks and I was fine. I stayed off my feet as much as I could and I had a blast. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't go.

Re: Bars
I was in bars but obviously not drinking. Now that people dont smoke in bars I dont see anything wrong with it if you go for a party. Personally I wouldnt want to treck in to NYC though.
