I want to go but I know its a hell of a ride. Did you do it all in one shot or stop half way and stay over? If so, where?

And how long did it take you if you did it in one shot?

Lastly - is it worth it??

We did it in all in one shot and yes 100% worth it. We did 3 rest stops along the way it was fantastic

We made our way up there over our 2 week Maine vacation this summer. But we did it in 1 shot on the way back! Both are doable. It was about 8.5 hrs on the way back but 11 hrs including stops.
On the way up we did Ogunquit for a few days and then Boothbay Harbor for a few days before heading up to Bar Harbor. ETA: 100% worth it!!!

Totally worth it! Cannot wait to go back! We went up in one shot with small rest stops for breakfast/lunch. Coming back, we stayed in samoset resort (near rockport) for 2 nights and a night in Portland.

Of course, spent time in the national park. Did the motor loop around the park, stopped and relaxed at pretty sites, did some minor minor hiking, drove up to the summit, had tea at a cottage restaurant in the park; spent evenings browsing the stores in bar harbor; had lobster dinners; visited nearby lighthouses; visited a great museum of old automobiles and planes (not usually my thing but one of the best museums I've been to).

At the samoset resort, we got massages, lounged by the pool, walked by the ocean, visited cute nearby villages and browsed the stores, rockport outlets.
