Baptism

Hi Ladies!

I need to find a church that offers Baptisms on Saturdays. DH and I got married at St. Joseph Church in Babylon but they only offer it on Sundays at 1:30 leaving no time after for a party. I tried to see if they can switch it but they will not do it. Sadly, I have to find another church that can offer it on a Saturday. I live in West Islip so we are looking for Babylon, West Islip, Bayshore or anything close.

Any suggestions?

Re: Baptism

If you know a priest personally you could probably get them to do a private christening. Majority of parishes have the general christenings on Sunday afternoons.
Why can't you have a party at 3 on a SUnday

I know the catholic church in Amityville will do it privately on a Sat. My guess is that it will just cost you.

Re: Baptism

You could try St. Patrick in Bay Shore.

I had my last baby Baptized during Saturday evening mass in a church out of state (our families all live in the Midwest so we have had all our Baptisms there). Maybe that would be an option for you here?

If you are worried about being in front of so many strangers, I have to say I actually really loved it that way. There was so much enthusiasm and clapping for my baby girl at the end of the ceremony. Chat Icon I felt a lot of love.

Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip. They're a wonderful, welcoming, family-oriented parish too.

Just call the rectory and ask for a private baptism. Most churches allow it as long as they don't have any weddings scheduled at that time.

Re: Baptism

I called our lady of Lourdes in West Islip. They were very welcoming and very nice. They do offer on Saturday so all we have to do is make an apt with the deacon or priest to becoming members. Too bad I couldn't have it at St. JosephsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
