Balancing Bike?

Is my DS the only one who really doesn't know how to use it? I see kids in the commercial flying on them. My boys don't get it. We got it as a gift for my DS last year when he turned 3. It's pretty heavy and even his older brother walks with it. I want him to use it now bc I heard it's good to teach them balance and figured he can use it before taking off his training wheels.

Any advise?

Re: Balancing Bike?

took my son now 3yo about 6-9 months to "get it" and prodding from his "girlfriend" to pick his feet up and coast. Now that he "gets it" he is in love and cruises around the whole neigborhood. I would just say stick with it. We started off w/ no seat just him walking with it. then put the seat on when he got tall enough to reach the ground and after months of walking with it he now glides all over the place. We would get him a real bike but he is still to short to use one w/out training wheels and we want to skip over the training wheels since he already has the balance concept part down. Good luck, its pretty exciting when they really get the whole gliding/balancing concept.
Also wanted to add that ours is pretty darn lightweight (way lighter then a real bike) so I don't know if that is part of the issue for you.
