Bakers please come in!
I'm pretty creative with cooking, but I want to spread my wings a bit more with baking. I'm going to a BBQ this weekend, and I'm bringing dessert. Could you tell me if my plan sounds logistically sound? Like am I nuts to mix these two things together? Will one burn while one barely bakes? etc.
I want to make cupcake batter, fill each cupcake paper thingy (sorry, not the correct name) with some batter. Then I want to put a dollop of cheesecake filling on top of the batter, and then fill the rest of the cup up with cupcake batter. I'll bake them, and then top them with cream cheese frosting.
Does this sound like something that will work?
TIA!

Re: Bakers please come in!
Not crazy, this recipe does something similar:
Ingredients
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup white sugar 1 egg 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), or to the temperature recommended on the cake mix package. Prepare chocolate cake mix according to package directions, but do not bake. In separate bowl cream together cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg until well blended, then stir in chocolate chips. Line cupcake tins with cupcake papers. Fill 2/3 full with chocolate cake batter. Add 1 teaspoon cream cheese mixture to the center, and top with more cake batter. Bake according to package directions for cupcakes. Cool and frost with chocolate or cream cheese frosting.

I think it will work...I make rainbow cupcakes and the colors more or less keep separate.
