bad rash around mouth, chin? PICS added

what can I do? i have a feeling its from a combo of drooling, paci irritation and wind burn/chap ... we walked three miles in the wind today.

i put aquophor on it all day but he rubs it and it doesnt seem to be doing much

Best case scenerio is that it is just a rash from what you have said. Worst case it could be impetigo.

thanks it looked a little bit better this morning after the aquopher ... we need to keep his paci out of his mouth, that will be the worst of it

if it isnt significantly better tomorrow, I'll call the ped.

I was going to post about the exact same thing just now... your post came up in my search! My DS has something similar to yours, a little rash under his bottom lip and a little bit of irritation on his cheeks. We think it's either from new pacis (same brand he has always used) or possibly from chewing on the crib railing which he has been doing a lot lately. I can't see it being from drool bc he has drooled since he was 3m old, so that's nothing new.

I'm not sure what to do for it either... was thinking about calling the ped myself. Maybe someone else with experience will post!!

My son is 6 months old and has had the same thing for the past few weeks. He is teething really badly and also has sensitive skin so I just chalked it up to that. The last time he saw the ped, he agreed saying any prolonged moisture can cause an irritation like that. He suggested to just keep it dry as much as possible (which we all know is insanely hard with a drooling baby) and we use a very gentle steroid cream on his face which clears it up (temporarily) that we put on when he goes to bed each night.

it looks MUCH better today! we have been doing our best to keep it dry and clean and then put aquophor on every few hours

My son is 2.5 & has recently gotten the same...red/sore around bottom lip & on cheeks. I've been using A&D on it & overnight it seems to get better.
