bad pains and tightening..2nd trimester
Im 17 wks pregnant and have just started getting pains/tightening on the left side of my stomach. It feels very tight and it gets tighter when i walk and get up and down. I took a hot shower to try to help but it just made it worse. I'm also not hungry. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and if this goes away quick. Its a really uncomfortable feeling.

Could it be Round Ligament pain? When I went to the OB at 16wks he said that I will start to feel stretching/pulling on my sides...Is the pain higher up or down low? I think the RL is higher up.

Doesn't sound ike round ligament to me, maybe early braxton hicks, but shouldn't really cause pain. I say drink a nice big glass of water and if its not gone in an hour call your dr.

Re: bad pains and tightening..2nd trimester
i would drink about 20oz of water and lay on your left side.. give it an hour see what happens... but DEF 100% place a call to your OB office.
do you do alot of standing walking or strenuous work? i had this also about the same time.. i contacted to ob and they blew it off.. i continued to contact the doc up till 23 weeks at which i ended up in the hospital at 24 weeks with pre term labor i was contacting consitantly every 2 min. (this is obviously worst case senario) and had been contracting most likely since that first call at about 16-17 weeks. but i woudlnt wait just give them a call they will adise you on what is the best to do!

Re: bad pains and tightening..2nd trimester
I would try drinking a couple of big glasses of water and see if that makes them go away. Usually those pains are from dehydration.

honestly i didnt know what they were either i went in to the hospital for the reasons you stated only went to the hospital becaus it was after hours. and the put the monitor on and thats how they found out. i also had some pelvic pressure. but the pains were enough to bring tears to my eyes. after i was released from the hospital i was told i MUST drink 1 gallon of water a day to help keep the contractions away because dehydration is the major cxause for them.. and ihave to say.. i did drink the gallon a day it stunk but it does the trick!

i have something similar and am 15weeks. Feels like tugging, stretching on both sides but more my right side. Its the worst at night when I roll over from one side to the other. I think its RL pain

this sounds like gas, i had this exactly last night after walking for about 20 mins, it worked its way down and out
trapped gas can be the worst. have you tried gas-x or something similar?
