Bad Cradle Cap In Toddler
My 15 month old has some sort of skin condition on the front top of her head. The doctor said it was cradle cap and brushed it off. But today I was brushing her hair up with a fine tooth comb and all of the dead skin (which was clumpy like a paste, like rubber cement after it's been dried) starting coming up and all of the hair came with it!!! it was like i was just pulling up her roots. Is this normal? What can I do about it? Besides giving her a bald spot, the dry scaly skin is still there.

Try head and shoulders. I know that sounds really weird, but it does work. If it doesn't, I would take her to a dermatologist asap-- sounds kind of like psoriasis, which I have.... psoriasis can pull out the roots of hair, and I have never heard of cradle cap that does that.

Does your DD have a milk allergy???? I ask because I think you were asking about stomach issues. Milk allergies and skin issues go hand in hand many times.

They can blood test them for it. Worth a shot!

Re: Bad Cradle Cap In Toddler
we are not sure if she has a milk allergy. we want to get her tested but the past 2 times they were unable to find veins/draw blood. It was a horrific experience both times so we are trying to wait until she is older to retest. I'd love to know if there are allergies. Considering her skin issues and her tummy troubles, I feel like there must be something.

Try good sam. I had the same thing, two failed horrible experiences and then good sam was a piece of cake.
DD had the dry orangy scalp for almost a year. I put olive oil on once and let it sit for a bit, combed it, then washed it out and it's been great ever since. I notice a little flaking coming back with the cold weather/dry air. I use california baby unscented shampoo and just started using the conditioner too but I may try the olive oil again if it gets worse.

Bad Cradle Cap In Toddler
This happened with dd when she was a few months old. I shampooed several times and used a soft bristle brush and really scrubbed her head. It never came back

I also agree with coconut oil. It worked better than anything else I tried when DD was an infant.

Re: Bad Cradle Cap In Toddler
I soaked DDs scalp in baby oil and combed out the flakes. Then washed with selsen blue and it took a few times but it worked.
Sleep with humidifier on.
Moisturize.
I heard coconut oil in bath water is good for dry skin,

Re: Bad Cradle Cap In Toddler
sounds like it may be more then cradle cap - dd never lost her hair with cradle cap
but what worked for her was rubbing baby oil on it and brushing/combing it through before giving her a bath and washing it out
