Backyard 1st bday party
If you had your DC's 1st birthday party in your backyard, what did you do for food & entertainment? Any tips or suggestions that anyone wants to share with me, please??? We're looking at around 50 people, maybe a dozen or so kids.

Re: Backyard 1st bday party
We are having a Backyard Party for DD's Bday and will be having a BBQ.
Menu I've planned out: BBQ chicken Hot Dogs Hamburgers Garden Salad Pesto Pasta Salad Potato Salad Fried Rice (catered) Grilled Corn Baked Mac & Cheese
Dessert: Ice Cream Cups for the kids Watermelon Birthday Cake Mini Dessert table (just as dessert, not the favor) May do a fruit salad
We are having around 60-70 guests, which does not include around a dozen kids.
Not sure what I am doing for entertainment, would like to know what ideas others have.

Re: Backyard 1st bday party
Ours is this weekend. If it was later in the month I would have done the BBQ thing.
We are serving baked ziti, sausage & peppers, chicken parm, and a salad for the main meal. Chicken nuggets and mac & cheese for kiddos if they won't eat the grown up stuff.
Dessert bar - when the stuff is gone, it's gone.
We booked Party with Marty for entertainment.
Not doing favors.

Re: Backyard 1st bday party
We had DD's 1st & then their joint 2nd/1st parties in the backyard (July/June). We had 75 people including about 30 kids.
We had 2 small blow up pools, a slip & slide, their playset, all the pushcars/toys out, a volleyball/badmitten net, bouncer house and ball pit & it was more than enough "entertainment" 'for them.
Foodwise, my MIL made:
Garden Salad sausage & peppers Ziti Eggplant parm Pasta Salad
For the kids we had french fries & chicken nuggets & mac & cheese
We also had a 6 foot hero
and DH made hotdogs first when people first got there
We did pails filled w/ assorted "junk" for DD's bday & then last year did certificates for Ralphs ices.

You're going to love him and Iris.. They did a PHENOM job.. You should see the faces of the kids she painted for my DD's christening.. amazing! and he was able to capture the kids attention
I did a backyard 1st birthday but we had a hoedown.. so all catered BBQ food.. it was fantastic.. we converted an outdoor tent into a totally different space!
