Backpack vs Tote diaper bags?

anybody use a backpack style diaper bag?

I like that it's probably easier to carry a backpack, and DH won't hate holding it. But i'm afraid it won't be as convenient to grab things out of a backpack as it would a tote.

Anyone have any experience or even just random opinions?

Re: Backpack vs Tote diaper bags?

Im just personally a bag person so I prefer totes... I can see how a backpack could work too... I actually got my husband a manlyish diaper bag... Look up Diaper Dude, they have messenger style bags for men which is what I got him for when hes with the baby...

I dont know the actual pros vs cons of tote vs backpack, since Im going to be a first time mom. I would say do what you feel is most comfortable for you and what you would like... What works for me or another woman may not work for you, ya know? Maybe since your more of a backpack person, you may be annoyed by a tote...

Maybe even post this to BTDT moms who may know a lil bit more based on experience =)

Re: Backpack vs Tote diaper bags?

We had a regular tote with DC#1 and luckily it had an adjustable strap so I could wear it crossbody most of the time. It is hard to have the bag on your shoulder and try to maneuver to pick up the carseat or whatever. This time around I definitely want to get a backpack style and keep my hands free!

I've always used backpacks and I love them...I've found them to be very convenient when out & about. I like that they don't slip off of my shoulder constantly and they leave my hands totally free to deal w/my ds. My dh also doesn't mind carrying it around either.

Re: Backpack vs Tote diaper bags?

We had both and it's really a matter of preference.

It's hard to carry everything sometimes while balancing a tote on your shoulder so when DD was an infant and we lugged around more stuff, we did the backpack. It was nice to have our hands completely free. Once she got a little older, we went back to the tote which we can wear crossbody and makes it more convenient.

I have both a backpack and a tote. I have never used the backpack but now that DC #2 is on the way, I'm thinking that I will. I will need all the free hands i can get!
