Back to Work
This is my first week back at work after a 6 1/2 mo maternity leave, and I was working from home for two months before having the baby.
I was on a work trip Mon to Weds and in the city today. Can I tell you guys how good it feels to be back at work! I actually feel kind of guilty. I spoke to DH and I told him how happy I was to be back and he said I could tell you were going stir crazy.
So different after having my first. I didn't want to go back at all and was so upset and obsessed with getting back to her. My 6 1/2 mo DS is so far a pretty different baby, very calm and laid back. I miss them but I know they are fine.
Anyone else go through this? I never thought I'd say I was happy to be back at work and not at home with the kids but being home with a toddler and baby is so incredibly hard.

This exactly. I couldn't wait to go back and it felt soooo good to feel normal again, get dressed up, have adult conversation, quiet time in my office. I love working.

Re: Back to Work
Im a sahm now. But was a ftwm before I moved here to NH. I adored working, was counting down the days of my maternity leave when I was going back to work. I felt like I could breath again back at my job.

Back to Work
I feel the same way. I go back Monday and I already started checking emails and had a call with my assistant today. I can't wait to re-enter the adult world, and though I will definitely miss my dd I know I'll be a better, more patient mom when I'm home.

Back to Work
I think I skipped to work my first day because I was so happy. I never wanted to stay home. Hated every day of leave. I am a better mom because I work. Personally if I stayed home I'd be cranky 24/7 and not healthy for our family.

Back to Work
I was happy to go back to work. I had a very needy baby and the 8 hour "break" really helped get me through the first year.

Re: Back to Work
I can't say that I was happy to go back to work, however, it did make me feel better to get out and have a routine. My perfect/ideal job would be part time so I could get the best of both worlds.

Re: Back to Work
I felt that way with the first, with the second I was still ready to go back, but not AS much b/c I found it to be more stressful juggling being away and having two when I got home, two who could potentially get sick etc.

Yes me too. I like working but I'd rather work part time so I could have the best of both worlds. My job doesn't offer part time unfortunately so I'm stuck. If I could work half the time I work now so I could see my kids more, I'd be content with that.

Me too. Now that I have two, sometimes I fantasize about staying home just because I am so damn hectic now but I know I would be miserable. I like my break!

Agreed!
With my first I cried at my desk every day for two weeks. With my second I wouldn't say I was happy to be back at work but I was definitely looking forward to establishing some sort of routine. The transition back to work has been a lot smoother emotionally this time around.

Back to Work
I've got 5 weeks left of maternity leave and I am looking forward to returning. Although I am nervous about doing it all now with two kids and a long driving commute with both in the car with me. But I look forward to adult conversation, using my brain, going out for lunch with coworkers, listening to the music I want while I work...
But I'm gonna miss this little girl so much. She's pretty easy so far!!!
