BACK PAIN @ 12 wks... please help!
I am having a really tough couple of weeks. I thought my morning sickness was slowing down (from 4x a day to 1-2x a day) but then at the end of last week I got horrible back pain. I had to take the day off of work and my husband got scared and took me to the hospital. We found out most likely it is the baby sitting on the sciatic nerve which is getting progressively worse. The pain is now traveling down my legs. I spoke to my dr who told me at this point I cannot do much more than relax, take tylonyl and hope the baby moves soon. Has anyone had/having this? Hope it ends soon. The pain could bring me to tears. I am trying to stay positive and tell myself how lucky I am to even be pregnant but it's hard to stay happy. On a side note the hospital my husband took me to was Winthrop (where I am giving birth) and I must say as soon as they found out I was pregnant I was treated with VIP service! So anyone giving birth there should be rest assured. Great care! I go back to my dr tommorrow morning (ahh!) for the 12 week testing so I am nervous but also excited and happy I get to discuss my back again. Ahh

BACK PAIN @ 12 wks... please help!
Physical Therapy is helping me A LOT! It started really early for me too- like week 12, and then by week 20 I was miserable. I decided to do something about it now before it progressively gets worse. I am at 24 weeks and feeling better than I did pre pregnancy thanks to PT

My dr said it is a little early to start pt and had not seen much success this early on. But I'm thinking I want to try it anyway.
Does your pt specialize in prenatal or just a general one?
Have you also been taking tylonyl? I am nervous about all the constant medicine for the baby.
Thanks ladies!

Re: BACK PAIN @ 12 wks... please help!
I suffer from horrible back pain since i had my son almost 3 years ago.
I am currently 13.5 weeks pregnant now and started early back pains.
I figured I would try acupuncture and it has helped tremendously. I am now able to go about my day.
It is worth a shot. I went to Andy Kaplan in RVC - I did 4 seesions.

Does your insurance cover some of the cost? Did you need a rx from your dr to go?
Rvc is very close to me (I'm in lb).
I am def going to discuss these options with my dr. I want to stay off meds and still be comfortable. I am open to anything.

My insurance did not cover it but some do. It is worth calling your insurance company to find out. Def worth the try.
After I had my son three years ago - I had two herniated discs and bad sciatica. I went through physical therapy, massage therpay, epidural injections, pain meds, you name it i tried it. This was actually my last resort and like i said happy to say i can go about my daily life.
Good luck any questions feel free to ask.
and btw Andy deals with MANY pregnant women and women trying to get pregnant. He is right across the street from Churchills

Yea they specialize in it.. and they also are spine specialist. The first 2 times I went I thought it was going to be a total waste, but it's really helping and the massage at the end is awesome.
