Back From the RE
and a little depressed. Not that I didn't already know that an FSH of 14.9 was bad, but hearing the RE say I would not be a candidate for IVF out loud was something entirely different.
DH's sperm analysis is eh - not great, but not horrible. Apparantly he has quite a few swimmers, but less than half are actually moving. RE said it is the ratio of quantity to movement that is important and we shouldn't worry too much about it.
And then we got to the sonogram and the unidentified something in my uterus, that is only visible from the side and not straight on.
Plan of action . . . repeat CD3 bloodwork and HSG to be performed next month.
Someone tell me this isn't the end of the world and there is still hope even though DH & I are waaay old.

Re: Back From the RE
try not to be too depressed and don't lose hope. I don't know about FSH or anything but you should never give up hope. My mom was almost 40 when she got pregnant with my little sister AND my dad had had cancer surgury and was told he was sterile. However we joyfully welcomed the arrival of my sister despite the odds. It may be hard but try to think the best and good luck with your next plan of action

Don't despair!! There are still options. Hopefully the CD3 and HSG will give the RE some additional info he can use to help you.

Re: Back From the RE
Never give up hope. I heard accupuncture is good for high FSH and caffeine is good to make the spermies swim.

Re: Back From the RE
I don't know who you are seeing -- perhaps a clinic that has to keep their statistics high and won't work with high FSH (NYU is like this).
My FSH was 14+, I am 40 years old, DH has low morphology -- and I am 30 weeks pregnant after my second IVF.
You may need to go to a clinic that doesn't care about statistics, but would rather give their best shot at trying to get you pregnant.
FM me if you want . . .

Re: Back From the RE
I agree with Kara, some clinics are so hung up on statisics.
Try wheatgrass shots that bought down my FSH. I hear that Goji Juice is good for sperm.
What did they suggest about the unidentified something in your uterus are they exploring that any further?
I can only say try not to lose hope, I know it is hard

Re: Back From the RE
I have also read that fsh is more of a number that indicates how well you will respond to meds..is trying through IUI or naturally an option? You should definitely try acupuncture and wheatgrass juice..I think dm24angel lowered her fsh quite a bit with wheatgrass. Also you may want to look into Dr. Toth since he feels high fsh is caused by bacteria/infection. Don't get discouraged. there are people who have gotten PG and had healthy babies with fsh MUCH higher. I think kara gave good advice I don't know a lot about clinics but that makes sense.
There is also a high fsh bulletin board that may help. Search high fsh in Google and you should find it. GL

Re: Back From the RE
Thanks everyone!!
To answer some questions - I saw Dr. Droesch at LI-IVF.
She said that not only is the FSH high at 14.9 in general, she said it was high for someone my age (41), and that she would not use any drugs (clomid etc) with me if the number stayed that high because it would be useless.
As for the unidentified whatever - the HSG next month should identify what it is. She didn't sound very concerned, but I got the impression it was b/c she didn't want to freak me out.
She did say that IUI/AI may be the way to go, but until the HSG & the repeat CD3 bloodwork, all I can do is sit around through the 2WW and try not to go crazy!

I skipped clomid - no need for it as I was ovulating on my own - tried one IUI and went straight to IVF, full blown meds included.
If all your tests show everything else is OK and she still says there is no point in IVF for you, I would get a second opinion. I would get it now actually, but that's just me.
