Back from my 37wk appt-----

Okay, so here we go.....

I gained almost 8lbs in 11 days! NOT happy about that, but whatever. Heard heartbeat and blood pressure was good (125/75).

I was undressed from the waist down and in comes the Dr. He asks "How are you feeling?" My smart a$$ remark "Aside from my fat tummy and my fat ankles, I'm okay" he then looks ayt my very swollen ankles and says "wow", and squeezes them. He was not TOO concerned b/c my b/p is not elevated and it (the swelling) does come and go.

He proceeds to do an internal (um, yeah no fun). It started out okay, then got worse. Not unbearable, but I was not comfortable. He said I was dilated 1cm (YEAH!) but didn't say anything about the cervix thinning or efacement (is that the right word??).

He spoke about the results of the last growth sono, which was 5 days ago. Tells me baby is approx 7lbs, and the baby can gain an avg of 1/2 lb/week. He is concerned that he could be almost 9 lbs at my due date (3 weeks from today).

SO....I will see Dr again next Wed for weekly ck, but in the interum I need to take the 3Hr Glucose test...again
. He wants to see the #s and if they are borderline or I fail he will schedule a c-section. I will also go in 2 weeks for another growth sono, and based on those results he MAY schedule a c-section.

He is concerned about me delivering a 9lb baby, which I was glad to hear, b/c I am concerned too!! I asked if all is okay with glucose test and next growth sono shows little weight gain, will he let me go til my due date. He said "You mean will I induce you" I said "yes" he said no. They do not like to "fight" with mother nature. Fine. I guess that's not SO bad. At least we're on the same page about me not giving birth vaginally to a butterball!

So, now I a "recovering" from the internal, minor cramping and contractions. No bleeding....yet. All in all I was pleased with how things went. Glad to know I am dilating, though I know I can be 1cm for weeks!!

You had more progress than I did today and you are due a wk later.

Well, good to hear all is well.

I agree..dont fight mother nature...little one will come when ready.

Sorry you are uncomfortable from internal.

I didnt feel nada..my doc was gentle.

Other than having to take the 3 hr test again and the uncomfortable internal, glad to hear all is well!!!

OMG-so funny- a butterball!!! I love him already!
