and I highly recommend it.

The lactation consultant was very informative and discussed the benefits and even problems that could arise. She touched upon myths like watching what you eat and concerns about taking medications. DH and I learned so much that we did not know. Even DH was glad that he came. (BTW there were 5 husbands there with their wives and it didnt seem like any were uncomfortable). I def feel more prepared as to what to expect.

One interesting thing was that she said you should wake the baby every 2-3 hours for a feeding, this will also help to get your milk flowing. But once the baby reaches his or her birth weight again, you should only feed the baby when the baby is hungry. Some babies will cluster feed like for every hour during the day and then sleep the rest or some want to be fed every 4 hours.

oh and when you get gorged with milk in the beginning, that doesnt mean you should pump more or feed more to release it, you should continue your schedule because you want your production of milk to even out with what the baby needs. You dont want to have so much extra.
