Baby's had a cough for months
My almost 11 month old has had a nasty cough for what feels like months now.
He had a full blown cold in January, followed by an ear infection and now has a very dry cough, especially at night. I've brought him to the doctor twice about it. First time they told me just a cold it will pass the second time they found the ear infection.
Had anyone elses kid had a never ending cold? I feel like it's not normal. He's been coughing basically since early January.
Other than that he seems happy, is eating, playing etc.
I think I want to bring him back to doctor today.

Re: Baby's had a cough for months
My daughter is 5 and pretty much gets a cough oct-march. It is all post nasal drip (maybe from colds or ear infections - they did find in her blood work something was low which makes her more prone to common colds and there is nothing that can be done about it - changes with age). Eventually the drip settles in her ears. As a baby she had constant ear infections but lessened as she got older. I am finally seeing an ENT now because in the last ear it has gotten worse.

Between daycare colds, this poor kids post nasal drip like me, and all the drool from the teething, there's almost always a cough. Humidifiers help immensely and if you can clear his little nose (which is a fight I know) that helps too.

I agree with others as well. However, also check into silent reflux. Both my DSs had this persistent annoying cough. It was said they had asthma. However pedi pulminologist said to try Zantac as cough/congestion could stem from reflux. Wouldn't you now it---completely went away. Always knew when I had to up dosage for weight bc congestion and cough would come back.
In end my older DS is definitely still asthmatic. I don't believe my little guy is---just has trouble bc of reflux.
Good luck.

Also just wanted to add, teething drool can do it too. Our best friend is a PICU nurse at Cohen's Children's and she always says the teething causes so many cold like symptoms. DS has cut 4 corners of molars in the last week (yes, that's ALL. FOUR. CORNERS.), and the drool has been insane, as has his cough which comes and goes. The humidifier really helps as did benedryl.
