BABY WITH GAS

I really need some advice. My DD is 4 weeks old, out of the hospital she drank similac advance but screamed her head off. I then switched to Gerber Good Start Gentle and am using playtex drop ins bottles with mylicon drops. She seemed to cry a lot less, however she only wants to be held. When I put her down she squirms, kicks, and passes extremely loud gas. Gerber has very good reviews but I've been thinking about switching to Similac Sensitive. However I don't like the fact is is corn syrup based. I guess what I'm asking is, has anyone had issues with gerber and gas or has used similac sensitive that can shed some light on this product. OR do you think the bottles could be the problem? Perhaps try gripe water? other suggestions!?! please help!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

BABY WITH GAS

DD had awful, loud, smelly gas with Gerber. But, she also had other issues, like spitting up, so we switched to Similac Sensitive (RTF) and it helped. We also switched bottles and found that Avent worked best for her.
Good luck!

Re: BABY WITH GAS

We switched DD to Similac Sensitive temporarily, once she wasn't gassy anymore we switched back to reg Similac.

It did help, but the sensitive caused her to be constipated, so we had to give her some prune juice and water daily - check with your ped if she has problems.

Same here. I am not thrilled about using SS, but it is the only formula without lactose and DS responded very well to it. He was VERY gassy. I would try and switch the bottles first before a formula change. We use drop-ins now b/c they are more convenient, but Avent, Born Free and Dr Browns are all better for gas IMO. Also, def continue to use the gas drops to the max dosage. (FYI Target has their brand of gas drops on sale right now. 6.99 for a pack of 2 1oz bottles.) Good luck!

DS was like that so we switched him to Nutramigen which has a probiotic in it. He was like a new baby within a day.

BABY WITH GAS

Dd had horrible gas. We used enfamil gentlease, gas drops, gripe water, playtex with drop ins and she still had awful gas that aided her to scream and cry for hours. Nothing worked except her growing out of it. She is almost 5 months and starting to grow out of it. She has gas but she doesn't seem to be as bothered by it now. Hang in there!
