Baby, where are yoooou?
It's 5 days past the due date of doom (it's "of doom" because nothing happened ). DH went to work today, and my FIL wants to know if we want to have dinner tomorrow night. Ugh, I wish normal activities will STOP and this baby will come out! There's no snow here in Philly, but it's supposed to snow tonight...my guess is that is waiting for cold weather just to be obnoxious .
Semi-vent over .

Just keep making plans... like John Lennon said... life's what happens while you're busy making other plans (or something like that)... so if you keep your schedule filled with things to do, she'll show up!
That's my theory anyway.

What would John Lennon know, he only had like one big song (obviously kidding).

Do you know how long it takes for cupcakes and cookies to bake in easy bake oven? She does not want to come out empty handed.

I'm scheduled for a gel induction on Thursday afternoon. I'm really not happy about the idea of an induction, but it honestly is the best option if this baby doesn't come out soon (she's already measuring huge). I'm hoping she comes out before then, but if she doesn't, the latest she'll be here is Friday!
For anyone not familiar with the gel induction (I wasn't), they insert a gel to ripen the cervix (I hate that term, it makes me sound like a piece of fruit ), and send you home. If contractions/labor doesn't start by the next day, I go back to the hospital and they start pitocin.

That's what they did for my best friend (the one in Boston). She was due 2/2 and they did it on 2/8. After 4 hours, she made zero progress, so they sent her home. A few hours later at 3:30 am, her water broke. She still had no progress once she got to the hospital, so they started the pitocin. She got her epidural around 4 cm, and they upped the pitocin.
She ended up with an emergency c and her daughter was born the night of 2/9. I'm pretty sure I told you this story already.
I HAVE heard of inductions working that don't end in c-sections, but it doesn't sound like it's very often. She had meconium in her water when it broke.
I think due dates are waaaaay overrated.
I have a friend who was 10 days late and the doctor kept scheduling her for an induction and she kept refusing (she actually did not show up at the hospital twice when she was scheduled for induction). Her son was born 15 days late -- she went into labor spontaneously and had the perfect, unmedicated, vaginal birth. But they say what she did was very dangerous for her and the baby. You've just gotta listen to your doctors! Everything will be perfect!!!!
ETA: When my best friend was scheduled for her ripening, her fiance thought the paper said she was scheduled for "vaginal ripping" and he was starting to figure out why she'd be curing him in the delivery room. Too funny.

Yup, you told me about her induction! the last thing you wrote reminds me of what DH said when I told him about the gel induction...he was confused as to how a gel was supposed to work...he asked, "Why would rubbing a gel on your stomach do anything to your cervix?" I love him .

Re: Baby, where are yoooou?
I just came on here to check on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hang in there mama-any day now!! I promise it will be SOOO worth the wait
My advice-have some cookies & milk, and SLEEP WHILE YOU CAN!! Ever since Mason was born, I've only been sleeping in hour-hour and a half spurts throughout the span of an entire night.
YOU'RE AT THE FINISH LINE!

Re: Baby, where are yoooou?
aw your baby needs to come for sure!
hope the gel induction works. . I feel like I'm going to be here another 15 days or something
I agree that you should make lots of big plans. . DH dared everyone on facebook to invite us to things bc he thought it was more likely I would go into labor if we were supposed to be somewhere!

I had a successful induction but I didnt have any gel or whatever. They gave me cervadil the night before to "rippen" my cervix and they started pitocin the next day. I had to stay in the hospital with the cervadil, I wasnt allowed to go home. I wonder what the difference is between the gel and the cervadil
