I used this website...it was really helpful. Just click the link ASL for babies. it gives the most common words you need.

Never took a class, but taught it myself and they also did it at daycare. You keep working on it and they will pick it up. DS knew the signs for more, all done, bottle, thank you, please.
When he started talking he would sign too. It was cute. At 2 he still uses the sign for "please" and says it as well.
My 4 year old knows a lot of sign too that I taught them. He also does "I Love you" and "Nice to meet you"
We have a deaf cousin so I think it's nice when he tries. She does read lips very well though

Get "Baby Signing Time". These are awesome. My whole family learned from these videos. DS loved, loved, loved these videos and he picked up every single word in the four dvd set. Will be doing this again with the one coming next year.
