Baby Shower vs. Sprinkle...?

Hi everyone!

I am due July 5th and just found out of Valentine's day we are expecting a little Chat Icon ! Couldn't be more excitedChat Icon

Anyway, my mom was going to throw me a shower but because DH and I have such HUGE families it just started to spin out of control. I decided I would not have a baby shower and would instead have a welcoming party/baby blessing once Chat Icon is born for all the family (that way we can celebrate the fact that she is here!)

My question is..

I think a "sprinkle" is usually for women who are having their 2nd child but if my mom still wanted to have a little something with 8-10 of my close friends would that be considered a shower or sprinkle? We were thinking sprinkle just based on the number of people but I really have no clue how this works...

Sorry if this was confusing! TIA

Would it be impossible for you to have a shower with a limited number of guest? Maybe immediate family and friends.

Re: Baby Shower vs. Sprinkle...?

We did a shower and a sprinkle for my DS. A lot of my mom's family couldn't make the shower, so we had a small luncheon with them when they were visiting anyway. Then I had a big shower with everyone else. You can call it whatever you want!

i think it would still be considered a shower even if it's for a small group. Chat Icon

Re: Baby Shower vs. Sprinkle...?

Thanks for the advice ladies! Figured I'd be better served with clarifying with you before make any decisions!

EPIC ~ We considered doing a shower with close friends and family but then it turned into a drama fest of whose feelings would be hurt if they weren't invited so our number quickly approached 100 at $30/pp at a local restaurant, definitely was more then my mom wanted to shell out (understandably)
