Baby shower question

I know it's super early, but my mom is already asking about my shower, which will not be a surprise. So I'm due Feb 16 and not sure when to have the shower because of Christmas and New Year's. I don't want people to say no bc they have holiday plans, but don't want to do it too early or late.... So when's a good time??

Baby shower question

I was going to suggest the first weekend in January after New Year's too. That's DD's bday weekend and last year we had a party then and it was very convenient for friends.

Only problem would be if you went pretty early... my mom was due 2/14 with my brother and he was born 1/7. But that probably won't happen. Chat Icon I was due 1/7 with DD and she was born 1/6.

Usually somewhere between 32 and 36 weeks, but you have to do what works for you and your schedule.

Baby shower question

I think either early January or early December. I don't think early December would be too early for you. My shower will be about 2 months before my due date. It depends on how much time you think you will want to set everything up. I was also thinking that is cold and flu season and also there is the possibility of snow so early December before it gets too cold might be better for you.

Re: Baby shower question

I would try for December so you have time to figure out what else you need to get (since holidays will be busy for you too) and still have the energy to get it. Chat Icon

I'm due the beginning of Jan-my shower will be the first weeknd in December.

When I threw my sisters shower a few years ago...she was due end of February; and her shower was end of January.

Re: Baby shower question

I am due Feb 23 and we are planning my shower for one of the first 2 wknds in December. February is too late and late December to mid Feb is my busy season. I will be working 6 days a week in January and late nights, so we thought it would be too much to mix a shower in at that time. Mainly cause that is DH and my one day off and we would be at the shower all day, then have stuff everywhere and no time to organize and I would likely be too exhausted anyway.

Then we didn't want to do it right around Christmas and the holidays.... so early December was what seemed to work best.

Baby shower question

i have the same problem (due feb 8th)...and i think i am going to not have a shower (but i have to get my mom to agree with this). we are going to have a big welcome baby party after he/she is born. i am fortunate though because i have a lot of hand me downs so i dont need much before the baby arrives.

but if my mom gets her way, we will be having a shower the second week of January. my family celebrates both hanukkah and christmas and this year hanukkah is early (dec 8th)...if we didnt have that celebration i would have requested it be early december so that you arent cutting it too close and you have plenty of time to prepare for the baby after the shower.

I would not do December, that month is nuts for many people. It might be hard for them to take out time for a shower. I would do January. I was 36 weeks at my shower and it was fine for me.

I would do the weekend of Jan. 5/6. You'd be 34 weeks and I think that's perfect.

Re: Baby shower question

I had my baby shower at around 30 weeks. I didn't want to have it too close to my due date, nor did I want to be so big and uncomfortable opening gifts or sorting through everything once at home.

The last few weeks of my pregnancy, I really just needed to relax. Moving boxes around, opening things up, washing clothes, finding places to store things....that was the last thing on my mind.

I think this makes sense. We had mine at 34 weeks and it was perfect... You should be around that time in January.

I am due at the beginning of February and my doctor is concerned there are some issues that could make me go EARLY. I would be worried to have it that close but only because I know it could be a potential issue.

I think if you were to do it one of the first two weekend in December that would be fine... I've been to baby showers for people anywhere from 28 to 36 weeks.

Baby shower question

I'll be 26 weeks at my shower (nov 10) bc I want nothing to do with the holiday rush and I don't want to push it into January when I won't know how I'll look or feel.
