baby shower invite question

I have to give my sis a list for my (surprise) shower.
Would you include your co-workers?
They were invited to my wedding.

Would you do a "Jack and Jill" party?

Should children be allowed?

I dont want my fam to spend a lot of $$$ on me but I do want my friends and family to get together.
Ugh this would b so much cheaper if we could have it in a park...but it will b too cold by then.

Remember, your friends and family WANT to celebrate you and your baby. Try not to feel guilty about letting that happen because all they are dying to do is shower your baby with so much love!

I would invite co-workers but I would not do a Jack and Jill. The only time I think Jack and Jills are good are if it's more of a casual backyard party like a BBQ in the summer. Besides that, the guys really have NO interest in baby showers.

As for children, that is up to you but personally I did not have children at my shower. At other showers I attended, all the moms to be said the same thing: the kids overran the party and they wished they hadn't invited them. This particularly happened during the opening of gifts since the kids were just wanted to "help" and rip through everything.

I have decided to just have the women. I am inviting my friends that I want there. There will be some I am not inviting, mainly because DH and I have 2 large families and I want them there before I start inviting friends that may have been at our wedding.

I am NOT having children for the reason MJ wrote above. I have heard from my own Mother that they will be going crazy and that for us would be an extra 14 people.

The shower will be at a restaurant and I rather have no children under 13 besides my kid sister who will be 9 then.

I did not have co-workers on my list for the same reasons as above. Family and close friends first.

I'm doing a Jack and Jill party.. I honestly didn't even want one before but my parents insisted that we something.. they wanted to celebrate and we thought it will be fun to have everyone get together. But my shower is at my parents' place.. so the only expense per say is food and drinks which my parents graciously and generously covered.. and when both parents are invited, the kids tag along as well..

eta: no coworkers are invited..even the couple that I am close to, I wouldn't invite them to a party at my place where we have close friends and family.. kinda like separation of church and state..

My baby shower will be a Party, so it will be Jack and Jill. I don't think I will be inviting coworkers though just because I for one like to keep my personal life separate from work. You do whatever you feel comfortable with and want.
