baby shower activities
I am having a 3 hour shower (12:30 - 3:30) at a restaurant that will be serving a sit down lunch.
how would you time things? 1pm lunch served, then presents at 1:45 and coffee/cake at 2:45?
skip opening presents? i am torn...i havent ever been to a baby shower and my bridal shower was out a house so it lasted much longer and people just left when they wanted

Re: baby shower activities
I didn't have a baby shower, but have been to a bunch and they've always opened gifts at the party.

Re: baby shower activities
My shower was this weekend. It was a 3 hour shower at a restaurant and ran from 1-4. I had 30 guests, so take that into account as far as the amount of time we allotted for gift opening. We opened the gifts starting at a little before 3 and I was done at about 3:25-3:30 (my friends who were handing me gifts were really pushing things along quickly). We had cake/coffee immediately following the gift opening. Many guests get offended if gifts aren't opened at the shower, so you really shouldn't skip opening them.

Re: baby shower activities
crashing.. i just hosted a shower.
mother arrived at 12:30. apps, salad and dinner served. 2 pm cake was served. we should have started opening gifts then, but we did about 8 games. mother started opening gifts at 3 and was slow. show was over at 4 and she was still opening gifts. i never thought it would take her that long to open gifts. she had not opened about 10 gifts and just took them home. we only had 20 people but we all individually wrapped gifts so it seemed like she had more.
