For us, the foam corner protectors if you have any sharp edges ( counter tops etc..) It may be a while before her head reaches that, but we had them on for quite a while before hand, just so my DS would get used to seeing hime there and he never messed with them Also the plastic door knob covers were a must have for us...
You could also get..
Outlets covers, straps for TV, dressers, cabinet locks ( major PIA to install )

gates outlet covers the things that keep cabinet doors closed (the lock that goes over a double cabinet door, not the latches)

Same here.
Also, the door handle covers.
Straps for heavy/tall furniture though we didn't do this yet.

Re: Baby Proofing Must Haves?
Outlet covers
Mounting hardware for heavy bookshelves and dressers
Stair guards (if you have stairs)
Locks for cabinets--we just installed them on a few cabinets--the rest have pots, pans, plastic containers, nothing he can hurt himself with. It depends what you want to do here, some people prefer to do all cabinets.
These are the bare essentials IMO. You may find you need other things, but I think some you can wait and see if they are necessary. Like a garbage can lock--we got this when we found DS eating garbage.

Re: Baby Proofing Must Haves?
baby gates stove knob covers electrical outlet covers the foam for sharp corners until DS pulled them off of the edges of the tables. cord holders for computer and tv wires
while i have the door knob covers we have never used them also some of the drawer locks were useless for us - DS figured out how to open them.
ETA: DS also locked me out of the house! I had to call the police to break into my own home. I would crawl on your floor and look at things from their perspective.

Re: Baby Proofing Must Haves?
We just babyproofed enough to keep them out of the hospital. Outlet covers are a must. We had door knob covers and/or locks on the closets/cabinets that had the dangerous chemicals. We have a door on the stairwell, so we didn't need a gate for there. We have a gate to close off the livingroom, but that's so we could keep DC in the l/r room with us, and not wander off where we couldn't see them. It was more of a convenience thing for us than a real safety thing.
