Baby Name Question...

We were with my DD and had both girl names and boy names picked out. She ended up being a girl, and we named he Emily Elizabeth. Our boy name that we were set on was Jonathan William.

Now we are pregnant again and again we will not find out the baby's sex. We have a girl name picked out that we are positive on.

But we are having a really hard time deciding on a boy name.

We both still love Jonathan William, but my cousin John (who I don't see very often to be honest) had a baby boy about 6 months ago and that is what he named his son.

My DH says that it doesn't matter, we had the name picked out first, and we rarely ever see him.

I don't know if I want the two kids to share a name.

What would you do? Keep looking for another name, or go with the name you've had picked out for years?

i say use the name if you still like it, especially if you don't see your cousin that often

Personally, I think I would try to come up with a different name that you both love. If, near the end, you still both feel most strongly about that name then I might just stick with it.

I also love Benjamin William or Benjamin Joseph (William is DH's first name, Joseph is my Dad's first name) but DH doesn't like the Benjamin part. I love Benjamin because I love names with nicknames and love the nickname Ben.

For a girl our name that we are set on is Riley Grace. I love it

I am in the SAME exact situation. We always liked a certain name bc it was both of our grandfathers name. My cousin named her son the same name 2 yrs ago, it is my 2ns cousin and we do see them but honestly we are probably going to use the name bc we both love it, it has meaning to us and other than my cousin the name is not common or used a lot (though it is a classic name).

I have a 2nd cousin with my name also. My mom always loved the name, but her 2n cousin used it for his dd..I am 6 yrs younger and my mom almost didnt use the name and then said oh the heck with it I love it I am using it. It has never been an issue.

See I'm weird like that if I know someone in my family son has that name already I wouldn't use it! maybe u can switch the names around.....

Could you name him Jonathan and call him Jack? (it is the nickname for John) if it was me i would just call him Jonathan it is a lovely name. Good luck!

DH isn't a fan of Jack as a name. Plus we have a LOT of friends who have named their sons Jack, or call them Jack as nicknames, so we probably wouldn't go that way. We'd call him Jon for short.

I can still work on DH and the name Benjamin, since I really love that name.

I know it's bad, but part of me hopes for another Daughter so that my daughter can have a sister. And I just love the name Riley!
