Baby Monitors- Audio or Video
I am 4 months pregnant with twins and trying to select a monitor. My sister and BFF said just go with the audio only. My other BFF said get the monitor.
Which one and what brand do you have that you would recommend. TIA

Re: Baby Monitors- Audio or Video
I have a video. I totally didn't think it was something we needed but ended up getting it b/c I had gift cards and my friend kept telling me it was the best thing.
I LOVE it now!! I'm sure we would have been fine with audio only, but I like that I can check on him without having to open his door and possibly wake him too.
ETA - I have the Summer Handheld Day & Night

We have the Summer infant Day and Night monitor. I love being able to see DS's face. I can tell if he is just crying out in his sleep or if he is awake.

Re: Baby Monitors- Audio or Video
We went with the audio only (didnt think the video was necessary)..and were def happy with it..we borrowed my SIL video once and not only was it noisy but I kept looking at it and couldnt stop...the ones below are the ones we had and they are as quiet as a mouse and never hear anything but yet I can hear them breathing when I listen closely! It sit queitly in the corner of our living room and the other in our bedroom... one room monitor
When we had our second child we "upgraded to this"..and felt the same about it..so quiet yet hear anything of importance when needed! Two-Room monitor

I too have the first one. You have to be careful with the video monitors. if someone near you has one also-you can pick up their video/sound. Colette had this problem I believe. She kept getting up bc she heard ds and it turns out it was someone elses kid that her monitor was picking up.

i could have written the same exact thing including the brand on monitor.... we love them... and you can definitely hear them breathing...
i am happy having audio only... if i am that concerned about them that i need to look at them, i will walk the 8 feet from my bed to the nursery

we have this one as well. I registered for the video one but nobody bought it for us..prob because it is $$$. So I picked this one up and it has worked out so well for us. That being said, our house is small and DDs room is about 10 feet from ours so I really dont need a video.

Re: Baby Monitors- Audio or Video
i had the summer video monitor for $100 and it was a piece of cr@p. there was so much static. i ended up buying the sony audio monitor for $40 and it's soooo much better! the only bad thing is you cant hold it near a phone.

Re: Baby Monitors- Audio or Video
DS is 2 1/2 and I still use the video monitor. It is one of the BEST things ever! Instead of going in his room and possibly waking him up, you just check the monitor. I couldnt have lived without it during the CIO time either. We have the Summer brand one.

We have the 2nd one and for DD we have a Graco one as well. I just don't feel the video was a must have. The audio works just as well.. I can even hear DD snoring! LOL
