Baby crying at night for pacifier

Anyone go through this?

DD is 5 months and has always been a great sleeper. Was sleeping through the night at 10 weeks. For the last week or so she will cry every 1-2 hrs for her pacifier. I will give it back and she will be fine for an hour or so. Yet sometimes when I check on her she doesn't have it and she's sleeping just fine. Could this be a teething thing or just a phase?

Any tactics I could use or am i stuck here? I feel bad for her because she obviously isn't sleeping comfortably at night

I went through the same thing with DD at the same age. She was an amazing sleeper and then she hit a major sleep regression at that age, waking up so many times each night crying for the paci.

After a month of no one getting any sleep we did CIO at 5.5 months and took the pacifier away at the same time. Best thing I ever did, although it was really hard at the time. She is almost 2 and is an amazing sleeper.

Ugh 9 months old and dd is STILL doing this! She has always been a great sleeper sleeping through the night at 7 weeks. She doesn't do it every night, sometimes it's once, sometimes it's every hour (like tonight!) seems to be worse when she is cutting a tooth. We tried the putting 5-6 binkys in the crib in hopes she would find one herself but nope! Seriously considering getting rid of the pacifier soon.

i put a handful of binkys in the crib as well as the wubbanub. she seems to be able to find the wubbanub better and it definitely helps. she is 7 months now. GL

Sorry to say, I think it's time to ditch the pacifier. You can't have her waking every hour or two - she's not getting quality, restorative sleep ( and neither are you!). Adding more pacifiers into the crib might hold you for a while, but she'll still be waking up every hour or two looking for them (just not crying and bugging you about it).

Take this as a sign that your LO is ready to go to sleep without one. You're in for a tough couple of nights (maybe do it over a weekend?) but she's so little, she'll adapt super quickly.
