Babies Heart Rate

How accurate do you think the baby's heart rate linked to the sex of the baby is?

Anyone know what they are having and care to share their babies heart rate?

I'm not sure how it works, but I believe that ds' hb has been about 150bpm the last few appointments...

HR has all to do with gestational age and nothing to do with gender.

The old wives tale is a faster HR means a girl. DD was always fast, but #2 (Chat Icon ) is just as fast or faster at every appointment so far.

It's still fun to try to guess!

the heartrate of our LO was 185 around 8-9 weeks and now at 12 weeks has come down to 160, so everyone has been telling me I'm having a girl, we are not finding out so everyone can keep guessing until October! Chat Icon

Re: Babies Heart Rate

My girl stays around the 130 mark and that is complete opposite of what the old wives tale is so what does that tell ya LOL

Oh and I tried every other gender test under the sun and all signs pointed to boy. You could imagine my surprise when he was really a she at my 20 week scan!

Re: Babies Heart Rate

For me and my sister the wives tale was true, but I know it doesn't hold true for everyone.

My sister has 5 kids (4 boys 1 girl) all her boys were in the 130's and her girl was in the 160's.

My DD was between 153 and 156.

This baby is 151 (don't know the gender yet).

I heard that it also has to do with the mother's heart rate.

Heart rate has nothing to do with gender. While it may hold true for some people, it will be wrong for just as many. 50% chance of being right. I wouldn't go by it at all Chat Icon

I think you're right about it having something to do with the mothers HR.. I had a sono yesterday at 39 weeks and 5 days and then was put on the monitor for a little to chart the babies movement and heart and I noticed that when I was first hooked up the HR was high, and I was really nervous..once I calmed down a little, the babys HR did too....

I know the HR to sex thing is an old wives tale, I just wanted to hear everyone's story.
