Average homeowners policy?

I called my condo and car insurance company which is through AAA. They quoted us a policy for 638 a year for our new home(single family) that covers replacing the whole house and its contents(at replacement value, not current value) and 1,000,000 in liability with a $500 deductible. This seemed really low to us. Our house is only 1800 sq ft.

Are we getting enough coverage????

Re: Average homeowners policy?

That sounds great!

Our policy is $800 /yr for less coverage. Our house is around the same size.

Re: Average homeowners policy?

Since it's a condo and not a single family home your insurance will be much less. It sounds right.

I wanted to add, we pay $1200/yr for about the same sq. ft.

Its a single family house- sorry for the confusion- I HAD my condo insurance with them and it was only a couple hundred cheaper.

Re: Average homeowners policy?

Its through AAA- I live in a very low crime area so that may have something to do with it.

Re: Average homeowners policy?

Is that AAA? I didn't know they do insurance? Or is it an insurance company called AAA?

Its the Triple A you are thinking of- the car people- they do all sorts of stuff- insurance, travel etc. I found them to be the cheapest for car insurance and then went to them for my condo and now my home.
