Auto body repair and car rental

When getting a rental while car is in the auto body shop, is it the auto body shop that sets up the rental? I am only saying, as the shop I went to said they would set me up with a rental. I have rental insurance through my insurance company.

There are 2 rental places within walking distance from my body shop so i usually do it myself... but if the autobody shop has your insurance info they can probably have it all done for you and then you sign the paperwork once the car gets to you.

My insurance company took care of the rental.
They called the Enterprise closest to me and set it up and I just went and picked up the car.

I used to work for rental company a while ago. Your insurance will pay for at least part of the rental if you have coverage. The shop will probably call whichever local rental place they refer.

If you want to be proactive, aka don't want to risk waiting around for a car, call your insurance and have them send authorization to rental place. Then call rental place and set up time and day.

My experience, the shop waits til you're there to call for a car. On a busy morning, that could mean waiting if you don't have a reservation.
