Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I am not a drinker I barely sip anything ever. Im not oppossed to it; it just does nothing for me other than give me a headache- even if I take just a few sips.

So many people love wine and enjoy wine and are relaxed by wine. Why can't I? Maybe I'm not drinking the right kind.

Tell me your favorite wine type and brand and then tell me why. Hopefully this will help me find somthing I really enjoy.

TIA

I love wine, but cant drink it either, its the sulfates in it that cause some people to get immediate headaches and get stuffy from it. BOOOOOO!

So I just stick to beer, however the wine that does the least damage when I drink it is Santa Margheritas Pinot Grigio.

Are you allergic to sulfites by any chance? My mom is and gets headaches from drinking wine or any of those "flavored beers' like Mikes Hard Lemonade, etc.

As for my favorite choice of wine, I am a white wine girl and I love any type of pinot grigio, riesling, or sauvingon blanc. I bounce around to different brands but I do tend to lean towards Yellowtail brand or Beringer. Its pretty cheap and I like the way it tastes.

If you like wine, try organic wine because I believe they are all made without sulfites!

Oh yes and I looove Santa Margherita pinot too!

I dont know what Bottles and Bargains is, but they do have it at my local liquor store in East Meadow.

Heres a link I found regarding the sulfate issue. Basically it says they dont add sulfites but that sulfites occur naturally in the fermenting process, so i was wrong to say they dont have ANY sulfites...

Rieslings, Pinot and Chardonnay are very relaxing to have around dinner or for a relaxing evening LOL. Pink Wines like White Zinfandel are fun to drink when Im out with friends or BBQ's.

i LOVE pindars sweet scarlet. we can't keep bottles in the house for the life of us! somehow they just always end up empty... lol its a red wine but sweet! (duh) not too sweet that its like a fruity drink, but definitely different from your typical red wine. good luck!

Re: Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I love wine...honestly when I first started drinking wine I enjoyed the effect better than the taste Chat Icon

I think something like Pindar Winter White is nice if you like a little sweetness.

I used to hate reds but Ruffino Il Ducale really got me loving them.

I think wine really is an aquired taste, for me it was, the longer I have been a wine drinker, the more wines I enjoy the taste of.

I hope you have luck Chat Icon

Re: Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I enjoy white merlot. It's a little darker than white zinfandel.

I really enjoy chianti, sweet reisling, shiraz, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and pinot grigio.

I am not much of a fan of Chardonnay or Merlot.

Re: Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I love all wine but get headaches as well. I found that I can drink any wine that does not come from oak barrels. Most white wines are ok and the only red I can drink is pinot noir. If you Google getting headaches from wine you will find tons of info.

Re: Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I too love wine, as does my Mom. My mother can not drink red wine (with the exception of Yellow tail Shiraz), as it causes her to flush instantly (almost rash-y looking) and be left with a bad headache.

I usually drink white wine - I am a big Pinot Grigio fan - but, I have found that there are brands I can NOT drink (e.g. Sutter Home). The instant I take a sip of those wines, I get a dull headache, and an achiness across my shoulder blades...too much and my shoulder blades will start cramping!!(Not a fun feeling!!)

I usually stick with Santa Margharita or Cavit, as I like them and they don't bother me...If I'm out and I really want a glass at a restaurant or something, I will usually opt for the "better" (more expensive) choice, as it seems the more quality they are, the less they bother me...

I'm more of a red girl.Although, I think red is an acquired taste.

Malbec (wine from argentina)
Reds from Australia (always like them)
Red Zinfandel
cabernet

Whites
Pinot Grigio
Riesling
are nice in the summer

Stay away from cheap reds especially merlots! They will taste like church wine.

Kendall Jackson is a good brand, not too expensive. I think all of their reds & whites are good.

Re: Attn Wine LOVERSSSS help me

I think if you aren't into wine, then start out with lighter smoother wines. For a red I would suggest a Pinot Noir. I really like 9th Island, it's an Australian wine from Tasmania. However some Pinots can have woody peppery flavour. Ask the salesman or read the backs of bottles for a description.

For a white I think Sauvignon Blanc is a nice starting point. Chateau St. Michelle makes a nice one. If you like sweet, go for a Riesling. I like Wolf Blass Yellow Label Riesling. I find this one middle of the road, not too sweet- there are some really sweet ones out there! I'm not much of a Chardonnay fan, but I love white Burgundies (Mersault is nice) as of recently.

It also may be that you might not like white wine or might not like red wine. You'll find out soon enough if you prefer one over the other! Chat Icon
