Atlantis Rave

If anyone is interested in a vacation that has something for everyone, I would highly recommend going to Atlantis in the Bahamas. We all had a blast! We stayed at the Cove in a beautiful modern suite. the private pool and beach (Reef and Cove guests only) was quiet and relaxing. We were a short walk from the waterpark. The Mandara Spa was spectacular. I had one of the best massages of my life. The kids could not get enough of the aquariums and pools. The boys did the Sea Squirts activity (only $29 per child, probably the only good deal on the island) and were able to hold starfish, feed sharks and sting rays. So much fun. They had a lot of free arts and crafts throughout the day and have a free movie theater. Yes, food was overpriced but we ate well. We had a mix of casual and fine dining.

We went to Beaches Turks and Caicos earlier this year and I personally thought Atlantis blew Beaches away. Cost was about the same as Beaches is $$$ for all inclusive. Atlantis restaurants were also $$ so our total cost was about the same. I thought our dining experiences at Atlantis were much better than Beaches.

Our kids are almost 3 and almost 5. We went with a family who brought a 1yo and 4yo. Everyone had fun! I loved the short flight. This is the first place we have been to that truly felt like it was equally fun for all.

We were there for 4.5 days at the end of November. 3.5 days were perfect (low-mid 80's and sunny). We had two half days (one afternoon and the departure morning) of strong winds and rain. November is shoulder season and would not have been my pick for weather purposes but it worked out well for us. I have heard it is really hit or miss in November.

Uhoh...

I actually did not love Atlantis. To be fair, it rained most of the time we were there (may rained 5/6 days), there is NOTHING to do with kids when it rains once you see the aquarium, and was insanely expensive to eat (we did a meal plan & even so!). With a 1.5 yr old & a 3 year old, there was a lot they couldn't do & they had the most fun at the beach & a zero entry pool. We will go back when they are much older or teens.

I was planning possibly doing Beaches, but maybe we will stick to nice hotels in Florida & Caribbean.

I am sorry it rained during most of your trip. On our departure day, we planned to spend the entire morning at the beach and have brunch before heading to the airport. After about 3 hrs of tv and whining for another hr, we decided to head to the airport early. Weather is everything there. Was not fun being trapped in our hotel room.
