at what point is teething most painful?

Is it before the tooth breaks through, or after? DD is getting all 4 top teeth at once. One has actually broken through, and the other three are right there. She's woken up the past 2 nights (she usually sleeps 12 hrs straight). I'm not sure if its teething or something else. What's your experience? My first DD never woke up so this is all new to me!!

Re: at what point is teething most painful?

From my experience I would say before - once it's broken through the skin, they are usually not in pain anymore. That doesn't apply to molars or incisors, though, because those are bigger (or, like incisors, get bigger as they come down).

My DD is getting her molars in now and was up twice last night, I feel your pain Chat Icon

I've always read that teething pain lasts for 7-8 days at a time (which is 100% true for DS). 3-4 days before the tooth erupts and 3 days after.

Re: at what point is teething most painful?

It seems with M that it’s more painful when they’re still trying to pop through the skin….and once they can be seen they’re less painful. She got her 4 top ones all together too (and then the other bottom 2 next). As I told you, she’s been working on molars now and those have been ROUGH on her.

Hope she’s feeling (and sleeping) better soon!
