Assessed value?

When you get your tax paperwork the assessed value is what the house will appraise for, right? It's just for tax purposes? Thanks!

Re: Assessed value?

2 completely different things. the assessed value is usually about 20-30% less than market value.

Re: Assessed value?

You are in NC right? I am not sure how it works there, however, I just spoke with the Nassau County Tax Assessors office on Tuesday and they told me that the current assessment should equal the current market value of the house. In fact, our assessment is now exactly what we paid for the house in April. They re-adjusted it based on our purchase price. Hope that helps.

I hope that's not true... because my assessed value is like $15K less than what we paid for it!!! Chat Icon

I like the 20-30% thing better! Chat Icon
