Asking the godparents?
When and how did you ask your godparents?
I thought we were supposed to wait till the baby is born, but my mom said now was good and to ask when you decide.

I'm not sure what you're "supposed' to do, but we asked after our Level II...
My SIL asked DH and I shortly after they found out...

I don't know, that is what I am trying to find out. I would like to do something special - but what? Our godmother knows, so it isn't going to be a surprise to her (my sister & MOH). However, I don't think our godfather has any idea and will be quite surprised.

We are having my 2 cousins be the godparents.. 2 godfathers..
and they will have no clue since my husband has 3 brothers but I rather be set on fire then have any of them

 You crack me up! And I know you're totally serious!
My baby's godparents already know who they are. The godmother is a very good friend of mine who can't have children of her own and one day when she was very upset about something child-related I told her she would be my baby's godmother - long before I got preggo. I forget when we told my BIL but it came up in conversation a while back.

I don't think it matter when you ask.
I asked my godparents for my son after he was born - but I was having a gard time deciding which brother should be godfather since both were equally deserving. I plan on waiting again to ask the next set of godparents until after the baby is born as well.
For my son - I asked them when I went to visit them. I made a little sign asking and attached it to the infant carrier.

I asked DH how we should ask them and he was like 'what do you mean, we just ask'? LOL, he is so not creative.

I gave my brother a pic of the sonogram and asked him if he wanted to see a pic of his GODDAUGHTER and for my SIL, we asked her before we found the baby was a girl. We asked her on Mother's Day, I gave her a card and I hand wrote in GOD above where it said Mother's day.

I found this poem and am going to put it in a Godmother/Godfather picture frame:
To my Godmother/Godfather,
Aunt/Uncle (Name)
I may not know too much right now,
I still am kind of new,
But I know Godmothers/Godfathers are special,
'Cause Mom and Dad chose you.
To be a large part of my life
is what they hope of you.
They saw something quite special,
I would have picked you too.
