As promised-breastfeeding + skin to skin

http://www.drjacknewman.com/help/Skin-to-Skin.asp

Hi girls!

I shared a link explaining more the skin to skin contact that the lactation nurses at NSUH taught me-I'm telling you-it is THE BEST!

If you want to find more on the topic, just do a google search of breastfeeding + skin to skin (keep in mind though, that skin to skin is just as great for daddies bonding with their babies!)

**I would definitely advise you to take full advantage of the lactation consultants at whatever hospital you deliver at. I made it a point to see someone twice a day...and for them to watch the baby latch + feed at least once.

They are there to help!

Promise I'll post more once things settle down a bit.

XOXOXO

Thanks for sharing...this sounds great...do most hospitals do immediate skin to skin right after the baby is born?? I'll be at St. Charles.

We didn't do it until the next day-I had Mason at 7:35 at night, it wasn't until the lactation consultant came in the next morning that I learned about it.

Last night Mason was REALLY hungry last night and went on a rampage of "cluster feeds"....plus he was awake (hasn't adjusted to awake/asleep times yet) so we did skin to skin for 2 hours so he felt cozy and like he was in the womb again.

I'm telling you it is such an awesome way to bond with bambino!

Re: As promised-breastfeeding + skin to skin

I have heard of this. My hospital encourages it. And they do it imediately after birth. They also want you to try to bf at that time too.

You probably couldnt do it right away due to the surgery.

I have a friend who told me about it too and said it was amazing.

I didn't know that dads could do it to though!!! I think that is fabulous!!! I know Deacon will be all about that!!
