As long as we were talking about dogs...

What is with people carrying their dogs into every store these days!?!?!

Let me be the first to say I love my dog and bring her almost everywhere with - a couple of times it may have been inappropriate (bbq's, picnic's) - but never, ever have I even thought to bring her into a retail store. I'm not talking about Petco, I'm talking about a retail store. I see these people walking around with a dog under their arm or in a bag and think "WHY?" What if someone was allergic? What if your dog bit someone, just cuz it's small doesn't mean they don't bite. I just don't get it.

I'm only posting this cuz a couple just left the store I work in, they were buying shoes and they had a maltese with them that A- kept barking (not incessantly, just a bark here and there) and B- looked like it needed a serious bath and stunk!!!!!

Get with the program, it's not a child - it's a dog!!!!!

I agree with you. I think a lot of these people use their dogs as "acessories" which is the trend nowadays, thanks to Paris Hilton. I mean, people have always had small dogs, but its only within the last couple of years that people take them EVERYWHERE with them.

i love my dog, and honestly id take him anywhere if i could. he's about 15lbs, so he's a little too heavy for me to carry on my shoulder in a bag through the mall.

but if someone has a 5 lb puppy in a carry bag, that isnt bothering anyone, who cares?

i agree they shouldnt be running around Macy's, but if its a small pup in a carry bag, its no harm to anyone.

I am a pet folk - I have a dog and a cat - and I love them dearly!!
I just said to my boss - why is it okay to bring a 10 pound dog to a store and not my 60 pound dog (this is a hypothetical statement BTW) - I just don't think it's appropriate to have dogs in stores - for many reasons...
Shedding - you could add that to the list - do you really want to buy a shirt that has doggie fur on it?

I am a pet folk - I have a dog and a cat - and I love them dearly!!

I used to see it all the time.... I worked in a FOOD STORE. People would bring their dogs in and put them on the counter while they got their money out!!!!!!!!

i saw a lady in waldbaums with her dog (a yorkie) in the front seat of the shopping cart. she bought one of those things for the cart you buy a baby. and put her dog in it.

edited to say... the other day some lady brought her dog into a pizza place... where people eat... I don't understand this.

and i absolutely love my dog, but would never....
